The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act takes effect on June 27, but according to a recent survey by Escalate PR client AbsenceSoft, a whopping 50% of HR departments at companies with over 5,000 employees are not adequately prepared for the new law and its provisions. Mark Schiff, CEO of AbsenceSoft, emphasizes the urgency for organizations and HR leaders to gear up for compliance and ensure employees have access to the accommodations they’re entitled to.
Most large employers are prepared to accommodate pregnant workers with job modifications and flexible hours, but the study shows fewer are ready to offer leave — something that may be necessary under the new law.
