François Baldassari, CEO of Memfault, sat down with the IoT Insider podcast, IoT Unplugged, to discuss the necessity of IoT device quality management, the most predominant issues products face in the field, and what companies need to watch out for.
The interview spanned firmware and software issues in deployed IoT devices, and how to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve crashes remotely, while also ensuring data security during device monitoring. François highlights the importance of having a system in place to monitor devices, the intuition of developers and engineers can often be wrong.
I find it really surprising when we poll folks in the industry, or I talk to engineers and find out that many of them still work on products without over the air update capabilities, and some of them still don’t believe that over the air update capability is a must have. But I think these days it really is a must have. You cannot fix a problem if you cannot push a patch, says Baldassari.
