Escalate PR client, DroneUp, is racing to the skies to bring drone delivery to households across the United States. Competitor Amazon seems to be lagging behind, with just 100 deliveries completed in two small U.S. markets, according to a CNBC report. This pales in comparison to earlier projections of 10,000 deliveries by the end of this year. While regulatory hurdles from the Federal Aviation Administration are partly to blame, other companies, like Wing, DroneUp and Zipline, have made significant strides in their drone delivery programs. DroneUp CEO, Tom Walker, speaks to CNBC about their success:
We have 34 locations operating in six states today, and we’re delivering in less than 30 minutes,” Walker said. “The routes are designed to minimize flight over people, minimize flight over moving vehicles, and it chooses the optimum route both from a safety standpoint, but from an efficiency standpoint.
